Plans have gone in to convert an existing Baptist church into five new houses.

image[1]The Grace Baptist Trust Corporation has applied to convert Irthlingborough Baptish Church and an associated cottage in Meeting Lane in the town into housing.
wants to create five dwellings which will predominantly be two-bedroom terraced starter homes.

A significant portion of the site is currently a graveyard so if the plans are approved, the graveyard would be overhauled and the graves re-interred.

Documents submitted as part of the application state: “The existing dwelling will not be affected.

“The existing hard and soft landscaping to the front of the property will be overhauled.

“The graveyard will be overhauled and the graves re-interred to provide a larger communal area for all of the residents.

“Each dwelling will retain its own individual courtyard garden.

“It is intended that the church retains as much of the appearance and fabric as possible.

“There is currently no vehicular access to the site and therefore no parking, however the building currently benefits from user class D1 and could generate far more traffic and parking requirements than the proposed additional four dwellings.

“There is also a large free public car park just over one hundred metres from the site.”
