Last Saturday 19th March we sponsored a Musical Variety Night at the Spinney Theatre in Northampton to raise funds for Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The evening was held in honour of Jenny Starnes who passed away at the hospice. Her family wanted to say a big thank you and raise awareness for the wonderful work all the nurses do.
The evening was a tremendous success with an audience of more than 400 people. The show contained singing, dance and comedy magic with music from many West End shows. Members of the audience participated in “Dial a Diamond”; this where a call was made at random to a mobile phone and the person who answered won a sparkly item of jewellery.
Sue Bownass, Community Fundraiser said: “the Hospice is very quiet without Jen about! She was always chatting to someone and singing around the ward! I think if she could, she would have got up and done a little dance too! I had the privilege of working with Jenny many years ago and it was an honour to be asked to host Jenny’s Moments (my last event for the Hospice).
Yesterday we attended the hospice for the cheque presentation in the sum of £5,437.40. This morning this has increased to £5,505.40 after further donations.
